Closed work permits

Temporary foreign worker (TFWP)

The Temporary Foreign Worker Program in Canada allows foreign nationals to legally work in Canada for a specific period of time, usually in a specific job. This program aims to meet the needs of the Canadian labor market when employers cannot find Canadian workers or permanent residents to fill certain positions.

International mobility

This program aims to facilitate the entry of skilled workers, international students or interns, as well as individuals participating in cultural exchanges or specific international agreements. These workers may be exempt from the LMIA if their employment meets the criteria established in this program, thereby contributing to international mobility and Canada's economic diversity. If you are French-speaking, I also advise you to look for work outside Quebec, because looking for a French-speaking worker offers you the possibility of more easily accessing a work permit with an LMIA/CAQ exemption.

Certain jobs in demand in Quebec are eligible for facilitated process. The CAQ application must be submitted at the same time as the LMIA application.

The spouse and children will have the opportunity to apply for an open work permit, if and only if the main applicant works in a high-wage position (above the median hourly wage) OR in a FEER category occupation 0,1,2,3.
